Jesus Reads The Bible

based on Luke 4: 16-22

Jim: Well, everyone, today I brought two of my friends to help me tell the Bible story.
Stan: Yeah, I’m your friend, Mr. Jim!
Diz: Uhhh, yeah, I’m your friend, too. I mean, I’m your “two” friend, I mean, I’m one but I’m number two. I mean, uhhh . . .
Jim: Okay, Dizzy, you are my friend, ALSO. So, Stanley and Dizzy, can you say hi to the people?
Stan: Hi to the people.
Jim: (looks at Dizzy) Uh, Dizzy?
Diz:: Uhhh, yeah?
Jim: What do ya say?
Diz: See you alligators later!
Jim: No, not that. Just hi.
Dizzy: Uhhh, just hi.
Jim: Alright, what have you guys been up to?
Stan: I’m up to three feet tall.
Jim: (roll eyes/shake head) How about you, Dizzy? What have you been up to?
Diz: Uhhh, I’ve been up to the sky.
Jim: Sorry, ask a dumb question . . . so today, here at (location), do ya’ll remember what our story is about?
Stan: Yeah, about three minutes long.
Jim: No, it’s about Jesus reading from the Bible in the synagogue in Nazareth.
Stan: Nazareth. Where’s that?
Diz: Uh, I know! It’s in a tree!
Jim: No, it’s not in a tree. It’s a town where Jesus grew up.
Diz: (looking up) Jesus flew up? Where?
Jim: No, Nazareth is where Jesus grew from a boy into a man. One day when Jesus stood up to read from the book of Isaiah, basically He said, “God sent me to tell about Him.” He said, “Today, these words are fulfilled.” He sat down and the people wondered at His words, thinking how can this be? Now, today we have the whole story of how this prophecy was fulfilled.
Stan: So, let me get this straight, a long time ago, even before I was born, a boy named Jesus from Nazareth, which wasn’t in a tree, grew up and didn’t fly up, went to a church in Cincinnati and read the words of the prophet Isaiah telling of a man coming to tell them about God and that He, Jesus, was the personĀ  that Isaiah was talking about and that now that prophecy was filled up!
Jim: Well, sorta. The church was a synagogue, not Cincinnati and the prophecy was FULfilled.
Diz: Uhhh, yeah, and the people wondered about something.
Stan: How Jesus could be God’s son.
Jim: Yes, Dizzy and Stanley, ya’ll are right. Well, it’s time to go, what do ya’ll say?
Stan: Bye to the people!
Diz: Uhhh, see you alligators later. Ha Ha Ha
